A LORRY driver caught drink driving at Poole Port has been banned from the roads for more than a year and a half.

Ryszard Paradowski, who lives in Grudziadz, Poland, was arrested at the terminal on September 4.

The following day, he appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court to admit driving a lorry with 75 micrograms of alcohol in breath. The limit is 35mg.

Paradowski was fined £400 and ordered to pay a £32 surcharge and £85 costs. He was also banned from the roads for 20 months.

Dorset Traffic Cops posted about the arrest on Twitter. An officer from the team said: "We dealt with a Polish lorry driver who drove off the ferry drunk.

"He blew twice the legal limit."

The team thanked Border Force for letting them know about the driver.
