EVERYONE was given a sporting opportunity when a host of activities - from rough and tumble rugby to relaxing indoor bowls - were made available at Christchurch Festival of Sport.
People of all ages, including mayor Cllr Bob McArthur, went along to the Two Riversmeet Centre on Sunday to find out free of charge about the wide selection of sports and pastimes offered by the centre and local clubs.
As well as activities regularly enjoyed by centre-goers such as swimming, squash and aerobics, there was cricket, karate, fencing, short tennis, basketball, canoeing, fencing and even model flying to watch or have a go at.
Assistant manager Jeff Wild told the Echo at the time: “We have quite a good take-up and saw lots of people that we do not normally see trying their hands as various activities.”
