POOLE Lifeboat volunteers rescued four people and a dog from a sinking boat during a hectic day during the Bournemouth Air Festival.

They dealt with a total of 11 incidents including a collision between two jet skis and boats without power on Sunday.

Both Poole lifeboats left the station at 12.30pm and came across a RIB which had lost power near the Bell buoy off Brownsea Island within 10 minutes. It was towed back to Parkstone Yacht Club.

A crew was flagged down by people on board a broken down boat, then they were called to deal with a power boat which was sinking. Four people and a dog were rescued.

They also helped after two jet skis collided. One person was injured and was treated by paramedics.

An unmanned yacht was found drifting in an air show exclusion zone andmore vessels were found to have broken down or run aground.

Volunteer Helm Jonathan Clark said: "With the sheer volume of vessels heading out to enjoy the air show, it was inevitable that things might not go to plan, coupled with a very strong ebb tide at the end of the airshow, it made for very tricky conditions getting back in the harbour."
