A PENNINGTON 23-year-old has been selected to represent the Liberal Democrats to contest a parliamentary seat at the next General Election.

Jack Davies, a New Forest district councillor representing Pennington, has been selected by the party to challenge for the parliamentary seat of New Forest West.

Mr Davies has lived in the constituency all his life and studied at both Priestlands School and Arnewood Sixth Form. He now works in the hotel and tourism industry locally, having graduated from the University of Southampton in 2018.

“There are a lot of people in towns and villages across the west of the New Forest who are angry at the way Brexit is being handled by the Conservatives and demand better," said Mr Davies.

“While the Conservatives mess about playing politics with the future of our country, local families are struggling to make ends meet and young people are leaving the New Forest for good because they can’t afford to rent or buy a home.

“With the next general election likely to result in no one party winning a majority, individual MPs who genuinely care about the people they represent are needed more than ever. I am the strong local voice that people in New Forest West need to fight for the future.”
