THREE Bournemouth restaurants have been nominated in Deliveroo’s first-ever restaurant awards.

Voting opened yesterday for the prizes, with a ceremony set to take place in London in October.

There are a total of 19 categories open for the public vote, with a range of new categories including Instagrammable dish.

The eateries nominated in Bournemouth and the awards they are up for are:

  • n Wallisdown Fish & Chips in Wallisdown Road – best cheap eats
  • Chicken & Blues in Christchurch Road – best family restaurant and top rated
  • The Croft Deli & Grill in Exeter Road – best healthy restaurant.

Winning restaurants will receive business support and feature in a Deliveroo marketing campaign, while residents who vote have the chance to win £500 of Deliveroo credit.

Deliveroo launched a new website for the awards, which also gives members of the public the opportunity to nominate any restaurant to put them in for the chance to pick up an award.

The longlist of nominations will be available to vote for until the second week of September, before the shortlist for each category is published on the website for a final public vote, with the winners announced at the ceremony, which is set to be hosted by former Strictly Come Dancing finalist Ashley Roberts. She said: “After making my West End debut in Waitress, where I sang about food every night, I developed a full-blown obsession with the UK’s food scene. I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate some of Britain’s best culinary talent at Deliveroo’s Restaurant Awards.”

Nominees have been selected through a combination of Deliveroo data and industry expertise. Will Shu, Deliveroo’s CEO, said: “Over the past six years Deliveroo has been fortunate enough to work with over 20,000 British takeaways and restaurants and The Deliveroo Restaurant Awards is just the latest way we’re helping to celebrate our amazing restaurant partners.”
