A NEW convenience store has been officially opened in Bournemouth.

Bournemouth Mayor Cllr Susan Phillips attended the launch of the new Nisa Local store at West Cliff Road.

The owners Hasan Alkan and Murat Dogan donated £500 to the West Hill Community group.

Simon Grimston, of the West Hill Community Group, said: "The mayor took a tour of the store which has recently been transformed through significant investment and development.

"Refreshments were provided by Mick and Sue Stokes owners of the neighbouring Cliff Top Restaurant and head chef Valdimer Jesus prepared food for the event.

"The store has increased floor and shelf space with greater product offering.

"There are two ATM machines for use of the public. Amazingly, a typical day's trading sees 3,000 purchases."

David Bailey from the Coastal BID, Eytan Krips from the BID and The Collingwood Hotel, BCP Council members David Sidwick and John Beesley, and Stephen Broad of Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service also attended the official opening.

n The next West Hill Community Group meeting is scheduled for August 27 at The Connaught Hotel Best Western, West Hill Road, Bournemouth.

Doors open at 6 pm and the meeting will start at 7pm
