THE air ambulance was called to Lulworth on Monday after a woman suffered a broken leg while walking to Durdle Door.

Officials from the Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team were called to assist paramedics after the incident, which happened on the track to the beauty spot.

A spokesperson from HM Coastguard said: "Due to the severity of the injury, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance had been tasked and was inbound.

"On scene, the team worked with the air ambulance crew and an off-duty GP to stabilise and then move the lady to our stretcher.

"The lady was then carried back to the car park where she was transferred to a land ambulance."

It was then discovered that the casualty's injury was not as serious as initially thought, so she was taken by the land ambulance to Dorchester Hospital.
