A MAN has been arrested and questioned by police after a disturbance in a pub when a woman hurled bottles of sauce at a staff member.

Police were alerted after reports that a man and a woman threatened staff and damaged property after a dispute over the quality of their food at The Christopher Creeke pub in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth.

Officers were told a woman threw bottles of sauce and took a painting off a wall, breaking the glass frame at 8.30pm on Tuesday June 4.

A member of the public tried to intervene but was assaulted by the woman and sustained a cut to his arm.

After the suspects had left the address, it was reported that the man returned and threatened members of the public with a crowbar.

Following inquiries by officers and a CCTV appeal, a 28-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence. He has been released under investigation as officers continue to make inquiries.
