A CARE homes operator with homes across Bournemouth and Poole will be hosting a one-day course to help people better understand dementia.

Luxurycare Group has teamed up with dementia care consultant Dr Gemma Jones to put on the course next month.

Mandy Kittlety, managing director of Luxurycare Group, said: "We are proud to be working with Dr Gemma Jones for the purpose of educating business representatives and people with an interest in dementia about its effects.

"We believe the business and health and social care community in Bournemouth and Poole should work together to make the lives of those living with dementia easier.

“We hope the course will be a small step forward towards a more accepting society.”

The DARC (Dementia Awareness Reaching Communities) course, is aimed at everyone who encounters people with dementia in social settings, to help increase understanding about dementia and how to support those living with it.

Dr Gemma Jones said: “I am delighted to collaborate with Luxurycare again. This training course will be extremely useful to business owners and employees who already deal with dementia-affected customers, but also for those who have not had any contact with dementia.

"I hope that we will receive interest from many businesses in the area.”

The course is scheduled for Destiny Life Church, Bournemouth, on September 16.
