DORSET has the second highest number of seaside holiday rental properties for any coastal district in the UK, according to recent research.

Housing agents Sellhousefast.uk analysed data from AirDNA to find the areas with the highest number of active holiday rentals.

Cornwall came out top of the list with 8,345 rentals.

Meanwhile, Dorset's second place was due to the 4,530 active holiday rental properties along its coastline.

Coastline communities analysed in Dorset included Bournemouth, Poole and Weymouth.

A spokesman for Sellhousefast.uk said: "Everyone deserves a holiday, ensuring you take a break from day-to-day life.

"But the perfect getaway doesn’t always have to include the gruelling time spent at an airport and the last-minute panic to not forget your passport.

Around 3,500 Brits currently search for staycation every month and, with the current political uncertainty, this type of holiday will undoubtedly continue to grow.

"The beach is the most popular staycation destination among Brits, with 34 per cent selecting it as their ideal UK vacation."
