SISTERS whose father, uncle and grandfather suffer with a rare degenerative condition are hosting a charity ball to raise funds for research.

Georgia and Hana Blackley are calling for donations to benefit the Huntington's Disease Association. Last year's event raised more than £3,000 for the charity, but this year, the sisters hope to raise even more.

Their grandfather died of Huntington's, while their dad and uncle suffer with the disease.

Georgia said: "Huntington's disease affected by grandad, who sadly passed away.

"It's also affecting my father, His brain is slowly deteriorating, just like my grandad's did and my uncle's will, and there is nothing we can do as there is no cure.

"My sister Hana and I have been fundraising for HDA since 2011.

"It all started with a sky-dive, but we've also climbed Snowdon and walked from Bournemouth to Boscombe in our onesies.

"In 2016 we thought we'd host the first ball. It raised £700.

"We've then kept it up year after year, and we keep raising more and more and raising awareness of what Huntington's is."

The disease is an inherited, and currently incurable, brain disease that attacks nerve cells over time.

"My sister and I have both been tested and are free of Huntington's," Georgia said.

"This will never stop us raising money and awareness for their small charity.

"We're a Dorset-based family and we'd like to ask for donations locally. My sister and I pay for all the costs of the ball, meaning all funds raised will be split between the Dorset branch, which helps others suffering with Huntington's, and research into finding a cure.

"If companies wish to donate prizes for our silent auction, we'd ask them to email hdballfundraising@hotmail.com."

The ball is sponsored by Brayber Recruitment. It will be held at the Ocean Beach Hotel in Bournemouth on October 5.

Tickets are available in advance by emailing hdballfundraising@hotmail.com.
