AN EVENT which was set to draw thousands of people to Mudeford today has been cancelled as conditions are "too dangerous".

The RNLI Mudeford Fun Day was due to feature a raft race, a funfair, stalls and displays by Army display team The Lightning Bolts.

This morning, a spokesperson said: "We're really sorry, but the conditions are too dangerous for the events to take place."

As reported, the weather also forced the cancellation of the Ellingham Show, which was due to take place at Somerley House on Saturday.

Secretary Tom Harvey, who lives in Ringwood, said: “There is a severe threat to people, animals and property, as well as to the fantastic trees on the estate.”

The New Forest Fairy Festival in Burley was also called off at the last minute on Saturday due to the high winds.

Those who had bought tickets for the Saturday were able to use them for today's event.
