A CLASSIC car event is still looking for entrants to join them at their event on August Bank Holiday Sunday.

The Sherbourne Historic Vehicle Rally, which is set to take place in the Courts of Sherbourne School on Sunday 25th August, is a popular classic show which involves a road run followed by a static display and concours judging.

Brian Chant, honorary chairman of the organising committee and director of Dorset Vintage and Classic Auctions who will be displaying his own 1954 Bentley R Type at the event, says that there are about 20 places remaining for the event.

“The Sherborne HVR is one of the few classic car gatherings where there’s an optional road run of about 40 miles during the morning before the cars line up in static display,” explains Brian. “Last year, many participants still enjoyed the run despite the rain; this year we are hoping the weather is more kind.

“This year the event is a tribute to Chris Macadie, who died a couple of months ago after achieving so much hard work for good causes in and around Sherborne.”

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles, offers categories for Veteran, Vintage, and Classic Pre-1970 Cars; Pre-1970 Light Commercial Vehicles; and Pre-1980 Motorcycles and Three-Wheelers, with a plethora of cups to be awarded too.

Sherborne Town Band will be playing while the judges and wider public make up their own minds about which are the most deserving entries.

More than £50,000 has been raised for charities supported by the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles through previous HVR events, and organisers are hoping to give the total a significant boost this year.
