A GRANT-giving charity has donated more than £3,500 to RLSS Boscombe Lifeguards to purchase a new quad bike which is needed to manoeuvre the group’s rescue rib.

In 2017, the Talbot Village Trust previously provided £12,000 for the lifeguard group to purchase a new rescue rib ‘Zulu’ which delivers safety cover for several local events such as Bournemouth Air Festival.

The new quad bike is regarded by the team as a new essential piece of equipment and enables them to tow the rib along the promenade and across the sand when responding to an emergency.

Janet Taylor, fundraising officer of RLSS Boscombe Lifeguards, said: “We are so thankful for the Trust’s continued support, as without it we wouldn’t have been able to grow our services and serve the public with the addition of the rescue rib and new quad bike.

“Our new equipment means that we can be on hand at some of the county’s most popular events and keep our community safe while they enjoy the summer.”

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: “As a Trust we are proud to be able to provide funding to both new and previous applicants who request funding for their charity or chosen community project.

“One of the many reasons why we chose to continue our support of RLSS Boscombe Lifeguards is because the team provides a vital service year-on-year and it is a priority of ours to invest in the safety of our community.”

Talbot Village Trust meets biannually and is accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in spring 2020. Please go to www.talbotvillagetrust.org for more information.
