POLICE in Purbeck seized a "large quantity" of Class A drugs and a weapon from a car occupied by two men in Swanage's Exeter Road on Thursday.
At around 11.30pm officers spotted the men and detained them for a search.
"The driver of the vehicle then attempted to run from officers," said police. "After resisting arrest this male was detained. The other man managed to run from the scene."
The detained man was arrested for possession with intent to supply, resisting arrest and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to Weymouth custody suite whilst officers continued their enquiries.
"Following a search of the man's home address another large quantity of cash was seized," said police.
The 30-year-old arrested man, who lives locally, has been released under investigation while enquiries continue. No further arrests have been made.
Purbeck Police encourage the public to report all incidents of drug dealing, which can be done anonymously or on their website, via 101 or via CrimeStoppers.
