DORSET’S largest arts and crafts show takes place in Wareham this Friday.
More than 800 pieces of art, craft and photography will be on display as part of the Dorset Arts & Crafts’ summer exhibition at Purbeck School in Wareham.
One of the organisers said: “It’s the place to go to be inspired, enthralled and to take the opportunity to get creative yourself.
“Children can have a go at making their own clay turtle, beaded gecko or Dorset Button amongst other activities, whilst adult workshops include bookbinding and Sugarcraft corsages.”
“There will also be plenty of demonstrations including pottery, embroidery, spinning, weaving and wood turning.
“Each year two individuals or groups are invited to stage guest exhibitions – this year it will be the Wessex Branch (Weymouth) of the British Sugarcraft Guild and Poole Bobbin Lace Circle.
“The Sugarcraft Guild are celebrating their 30th anniversary and no doubt will be amazing us with their cake decorating and sculpting wizardry.”
She added: “The Association was founded over 100 years ago at a time when many counties had their own Arts & Crafts Association, Dorset may be the last one remaining. Our 2019 Summer Exhibition will be the Association’s 105th, so we are a well established event.”
n The summer exhibition is held at Purbeck School in Worgret Road. There’s free parking, disabled access and refreshments available in the cafeteria.
