MORE than 4,000 trips were completed in the first month of the bike share scheme in Bournemouth and Poole – covering a distance equivalent to 430 trips from the Sandbanks Ferry Terminal to Hengistbury Head.

Since launching in the two towns, Beryls’ fleet of bikes have been used to cycle more than 7,000km.

With 150 active parking bays and more bikes still to be rolled out across the area, Beryl have been out providing information to residents about the hybrid bike share scheme.

Representatives from Beryl are set to be at Beale Place today from 12pm to 6pm to answer questions and give information.

Residents and visitors will be shown how to download the app and try the bikes for the first time.

There will be an opportunity to win free minutes for riding Beryl Bikes, gift vouchers to local bike shops and sweet treats from local bakeries.

The Beryl scheme involves using an app to find out where bikes can be picked up and dropped off in marked ‘Beryl Bays’, which were selected and approved in partnership with BCP Council.

The bays are positioned at key attractions and transport hubs, while bikes can also be left away from a bay as long as it is not on a private premises for an additional charge.
