A BOMB squad was called after an 'unexploded ordnance' was found at a nature reserve in Dorset.
Police were called at 12.28pm on Wednesday after a suspected explosive device – believed to be a land mine – that had been found by a member of the public at RSPB Arne Common.
Officers and the Royal Logistics Corps were working with staff at RSPB Arne to deal with the situation.
Dorset Council's Highways team provided sandbags to help minimise the blast and be as sensitive as possible to the birds on the nature reserve.
A bomb disposal unit attended to examine the device and a controlled explosion was carried out at around 8pm yesterday.
