THIS is the moment a smiling drug driver waved at police seconds after hitting an ambulance.
Adam Vaughan, who was on Thursday jailed for 14 months by a judge at Bournemouth Crown Court, had taken cocaine and smoked cannabis before leading officers on a chase down a one-way street outside Christchurch Junior School.
His VW Golf then hit an ambulance answering an emergency call.
The collision happened on the afternoon of February 20 in Fairmile Road, Christchurch.
Police have now released footage of the moment Vaughan hit the ambulance.
In the seconds after the collision, Vaughan, 32 and of Nursery Close, Hordle, Lymington, turns and smiles before waving at officers.
Inspector Joe Pardey, of Dorset Police's traffic unit, said: “Adam Vaughan has continued to flout the law and drive uninsured and without a licence.
"He put so many road users at risk that day by drug driving and travelling at excess speeds. His poor driving resulted in a collision and it is nothing but sheer luck that no one was more seriously injured.
“I hope the sentence handed out by the court will reiterate our commitment to taking dangerous and uninsured motorists off the road.”
