A WOMAN was injured in an attack by a dog in Poole.

Police are searching for the owner of the tanned pitbull/mastiff-type dog, which lunged towards a woman in her 50s while she was walking her dog on the green near the Hunger Hill roundabout.

The attacking dog dug its claws into the woman’s thigh.

She had to go to hospital for leg and chest injuries.

The owner of the dog was described as a white man aged in his 30s, approximately five feet five inches tall and of slim build with short blond hair. He was wearing a red T-shirt and dark-coloured trousers.

The incident happened at around midday on Saturday, July 6.

PC Ferry van Rooij, of Poole police, said: “An investigation is ongoing following a full account from the victim a couple of days after the incident.

“The owner of the dog was with three other men at the time and took the dog away immediately after the incident without helping the victim.”
