THE ALDER Hills nature reserve in Poole has suffered its second heath fire in a month, destroying animals and their habitats.
Fire crews from Redhill Park, Westbourne, Springbourne and Poole attended, bringing three fire engines and a 4x4 off road Landrover on Wednesday.
The blaze was extinguished using two hose reels and the 4x4 vehicle, and was under control by 8.30pm.
Earlier this month an area of heathland at Alder Hills measuring 75x100m was destroyed. Shocking images revealed the flames within yards of buildings and homes.
Poole suffered two further fires yesterday. The crew at Westbourne attended a blaze in the wooded area to the rear of Melbury Avenue, extinguishing the fire at 7.45pm using one hose reel.
And there was a bin and grass fire in Whitecliff Road car park at around the same time.
A crew from Redhill Park Fire Station attended as the local fire crews were already committed to another incident. The fire was extinguished using two hose reels, and was under control by 7.30pm.
