DORSET’S touring arts charity Artsreach, is inviting theatre-goers to grab a blanket, pack a picnic and join them for an evening of open air theatre at three stunning locations across the county.

This summer the award-winning Cornish company Miracle Theatre celebrates 40 years of producing inventive and entertaining theatre with a new comical escapade, A Perfect World.

The story follows a feisty young woman who embarks on a voyage into a world of undiscovered jungles, treasure maps, campfires and penknives on an action-packed adventure.

Leading her team of quarrelsome explorers she stumbles into a bountiful paradise, whose inhabitants seem entirely peaceful, productive and fulfilled. Is this tranquil place the best of all possible worlds or is it all too good to be true?

“People have dreamt of Utopias since the earliest times,” explained Miracle’s artistic director Bill Scott, “and world literature contains many weird and wonderful variations of possible perfect worlds. There have been various attempts to build real-life Utopian communities, but they invariably have one thing in common: a perfect world comes at a price.

“It’s a wonderfully rich theme, especially when linked to the popular genre of exploration and adventure – think Indiana Jones meets Doctor Who!”

The Miracle Theatre tour is always a highlight of the summer performance programme produced by Artsreach charity has presented over than 3500 professional performances to community venues across rural Dorset over the past 29 years, with the support of the Arts Council, Dorset County Council and local solicitors Blanchards Bailey.

Written and directed by Bill Scott, and with original music by Tom Adams, audiences can expect a wit-filled action story suitable for all generations, packed with physical buffoonery and an extraordinary soundscape that will keep you glued and giggling right up to the end!
