A MAN has been charged after armed police were involved in an alleged four-hour siege in New Milton.
Alexander Psaila, 32, of Whitefield Road, New Milton, has been charged with two offences of making threats to kill.
He is also accused of criminal damage and threatening to commit criminal damage.
Psaila appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody to appear at the city's crown court on August 2.
It follows an incident on July 3 in which police were called to an address in Brecon Close, New Milton.
The quiet cul-de-sac was placed in lockdown for several hours while officers dealt with the situation.
Residents reported seeing around a dozen armed officers, a police dog, a fire engine and two ambulance service vehicles.
Speaking at the time a Hampshire police spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.55am to reports of a disturbance.
"Concerns were raised for the welfare of people at the address. On the basis of the information provided to police, armed officers were deployed."
