MORE than 30 firefighters are tackling a blaze that started on the Lulworth Ranges this morning.
Seven crews, along with a water carrier and a 4x4 Unimog, attended the incident.
The fire broke out in the Bindon Hill area at around 10am.
Crews are expected to be at the scene for the rest of the day to monitor the fire and make sure it does not spread.
Due to its location it has proved difficult to fully extinguish, according to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
A spokesperson said the fire was in two areas - one measuring 80x50 metres and another approximately 10x50m.
Firefighters were also called to Cranemoor Common in Highcliffe after a suspected heath fire.
Two crews and a Land Rover pump arrived at the scene following a 999 call at 11.10am.
However, they discovered the fire was a controlled burn in a nearby garden.
