ROADWORKS and a five-car crash have caused long delays on the A338 towards Bournemouth this afternoon.
During the first incident, which happened between Blackwater Junction and Cooper Dean, two BMWs, a Peugeot 207, a Ford Focus and a Talbot Express Motorhome were involved in a collision.
Minor injuries were reported. Police closed one lane to deal with the incident.
The road was clear at 2.50pm.
However, engineers for BCP Council today started work on surface dressing along the route in a bid to prevent potholes.
The work is being carried out between Cooper Dean and Springbourne.
A temporary advisory 20mph speed limit is in place.
Drivers say long delays are already building as rush hour arrives.
