A MAN in his 60s has died after they were hit by a train at Pokesdown railway station last night.

As reported, emergency services were called to the station yesterday.

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: “At 6.49pm on July 8, officers were called to Pokesdown station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended.

"However, a man in his 60s was sadly pronounced dead. His family have been informed.

“This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Train services between Poole and Brockenhurst were blocked for much of the night as a result.

The line is open this morning.

Yesterday, a spokesperson from South Western Railway said: "In order to allow emergency services access to the railway all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area, and no trains can pass through.
