THOUSANDS of revellers are expected to flock to Bournemouth for the town's annual Bourne Free festival.

The party, celebrating the diverse LGBT community, has become a firm favourite on the south coast calendar.

While a number of events take place throughout the festival, which is scheduled for July 12-14, one of the main draws is the colourful parade.

This main parade starts at the East Cliff at 11am on Saturday, July 13, finishing at The Triangle in Bournemouth town centre.

This year's theme is 'Paint the World with your Pride.'

A Bourne Free spokesman said: "Our parade is a celebration of equality and diversity in the Bournemouth community. Each year our parade is getting bigger and bigger with many local and national companies now taking part. Charities, support groups, public organisations and lots of individuals of all genders, sexualities and races are also joining in the celebrations."

Other key sites throughout the event include the bandstand in Bournemouth's Lower Gardens, and the Triangle area.

Bourne Free's first ever event was held in the Lower Gardens in 2004, and since then organisers have continued to provide entertainment, stalls and activities for everyone.

While the bandstand is a free event, and family-friendly events will be available at the Triangle during the day, the Triangle Arena is only accessible for adults with wristbands.

Acts here include Sharon Needles, Shane Lynch & MC Big Ben, Alison Limerick, Miss Jason and resident DJ Brandon Block.

The spokesman said: "The Triangle Arena is where it all happens. We have live entertainment on stage all day from your favourite drag artists to celebrities, tribute acts to local entertainers there’s something for everyone.

"Wristbands are required for this event (Saturday) and are only available to those over the age of 18.

"Valid photo ID maybe required when entering the arena.

"Our friends at Gaydar and Gaydar Girls will be attending and walking around the arena throughout the day, handing out freebies and posing for photos.

"It is a fun-packed day that is not to be missed.

"Buy your wristbands and be ready to party."
