A MAN was cut free from his car with serious injuries after suffering a medical episode that caused the vehicle to flip onto its side.

Emergency services worked together to rescue the man on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened on the A350 near the turning for Durweston, north of Blandford.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said they were called around 11.30am to reports of a grey Honda CVR on its side.

"The driver of the car was trapped and is believed to have suffered a medical episode", they said.

"Fire, ambulance and the air ambulance attended the incident.

"The road reopened around 1.30pm".

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said that two crews from Blandford attended the scene.

"A man was released from the vehicle and taken to hospital by the ambulance service," they said.

"We made the area safe so that the road could be reopened."
