A FORMER public toilet has gone on the market in Bournemouth.

However, anyone wishing to buy it will need to spend more than a penny as offers in the region or in excess of £100,000 are being sought.

The former public convenience in Firbank Road was constructed circa 1969.

The block measures 535.92 sq ft and approximately 0.018 hectares and features “elevations of brick, render and high-level single glazed timber windows”.

The property is covered by a hexadecagonal timber roof with felt covering and has an “octagonal footprint.”

It is being offered for sale via an ‘informal tender’ process by Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council.

It is being marketed by Sibbett Gregory and those interested have until 2pm on Thursday, June 27, to put forward their best and final offers to BCP Council.

The building provides both male and female toilets which are accessed either side of the property.

Estate agents say the toilets are “located on Firbank road, close to the junction with Charminster Road. Charminster Road provides good access within and beyond the conurbation with its direct connection to Castle Lane West and in turn the Wessex Way.”

The estate agent said the property has a rateable value of £4,300.

The tenure is listed as ‘freehold with vacant possession’.

The agent said: “We are advised the premises have recently been used as a public convenience. Interested parties are encouraged to make their own enquiries in respect of the suitability of their proposed use.”

They added: “The council does not undertake to accept the highest offer or any offer received. Offers are made subject to contract and former vendor approval.”

Earlier this year,

Sibbett Gregory listed a public convenience at the junction of Shelbourne Close and Holdenhurst Road in Springbourne

that was being offered for £25,000.
