A BUSY road into Blandford will be reduced to one lane while a historic bridge is repaired.

West Street across Blandford Bridge will have two-way traffic signals in place from Monday, July 22, for around six weeks while repairs to the Grade II listed bridge are continued.

Routine inspections revealed Blandford Bridge, and its associated flood arches and retaining walls, needed repairs, including: replacing missing stones; repairing the faces of badly cracked stones, and re-pointing lost or damaged mortar

Strengthening work and waterproofing was carried out to one of the bridge's arches in 2017, and repairs to concrete defects in the flood arches were carried out earlier this year.

Temporary signals will be in place 24 hours a day while Dorset Highways carries out the repair work.
