TWO care homes in Dorset are inviting local people to join in their family-friendly celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

Ferndown Manor, on Golf Links Road will be open from 1.30pm-4pm, and The Potteries, on York Road, will be open from 10am-4pm on Friday, June 28. The events celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

Both homes have organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors to Ferndown Manor can look forward to beach-themed hat, bunting and citronella candle making and plant pot painting, while being served summer fruit cocktails with afternoon tea. At The Potteries, guests will get to enjoy a Poole Pottery talk, exhibition and sale, followed by arts and crafts inspired by Poole Pottery, and can also have their antiques valued with Duke's Auctioneers.
