BOURNEMOUTH singer-songwriter Jazz Morley returns with her second single Lights which is released today from her debut EP Parallel World. It’s described as an “anthemic song of surviving a near death experience and the emotions, feelings and questions that leaves you with”.

Jazz said: “I wrote Lights in Spain, immediately after having a near-death experience involving a lorry and a tunnel. It was the first time in my life I actually felt like I knew I was about to die. After it happened I began to question everything. How come I was still alive, without a scratch on my body, when I was so absolutely sure it was all over? And why did I let go so acceptingly? I’m often so consumed with my own thoughts and worries; this experience really opened up another portal in my brain – shouting at me to enjoy life, feel it all, experience as much as possible and take nothing for granted.”

A record spokesman said: “Lights continues to showcase Jazz’s diverse ability as a songwriter and performer, with production from Brad Mair (Dean Lewis, Tors) bringing in huge energy and dynamic with gospel vocal, swelling guitar and driving percussion. File next to Emeli Sande, Annie Lennox and Jessie Ware.”

Jazz is proving to be a hit with some of he big names in the music business after supporting Tom Jones at Live At Chelsea for two nights. Elton John is also a fan. He said Jazz was. “representative of the new era of music. Absolutely fantastic!”

Jazz will also be supporting George Benson and BST Hyde Park on July 5. The singer has also been supported at BBC Radio 2 by Jo Whiley and Fearne Cotton and was featured on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Artist Of The Week.
