POLICE searched for a man who reportedly went onto the roof of a building after getting into a fight in Bournemouth town centre.

Officers were called to the fight near McDonald’s on Old Christchurch Road at 6.15am on Thursday.

After they arrived, they received further reports that one man who was involved in the altercation had gone onto the roof of a building in Albert Road.

Eyewitnesses said they saw around 10 police officers searching the roof of the RBS bank building.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “The area was searched, with the assistance of CCTV operators, but the man was not located.

“No offences were identified and no complaints were received.”

Police often get called about people climbing on rooftops.

During a recent live exercise in which Dorset Police tweeted every call made to 999 and 101 in a 12-hour period, call-handlers received three separate reports of people climbing on roofs in Bournemouth and Poole, mainly children.
