A VINTAGE sign was stolen from a garage in rural Dorset after a man approached the owner to ask if it was for sale.
The sign, which advertises Duckhams oil, was taken from the outside wall of Thornford Garage in Longford Road, Thornford, Sherborne.
Police say a man in his 20s who was driving a dark-coloured Mazda MX pulled up outside the garage in the early evening on Sunday, June 16.
He asked if the sign was for sale. The owner of the garage said it wasn't.
Sometime between 3pm and 5.30pm the following afternoon, the sign, which has been on the wall for more than 60 years, was stolen.
Officers say the sign is yellow and around one foot by three foot. It has a working thermometer in the middle.
