A BIKE store manager is set to ride 100 miles at this year’s Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride on his single fixed gear bike.

Clive Hillsdon, who runs the Primera Poole store, has supported the ride as a mechanic for over 10 years. Now Clive is going to take his turn and raise funds for a charity close to his heart.

But to make the event more of a challenge, Clive is going to ride the hilly 100-mile route on Sunday, July 7, on his single speed fixed gear bike.

Clive said: “I have lost family members to cancer and thought by making this ride a bigger challenge hopefully my sponsors will dig deeper and donate more for people living with cancer.”

Ride organiser Peter Smith-Nicholls said: “We all wish Clive the best of luck for his ride. Personally I need a few more gears than just one to get me around the course, but the ride is open to all types of cyclists and bikes, and with more power assisted bikes on the market we hope this year more than ever will take part in the 100 mile ride.

“Of course if you are not ready for the 100 miles there are also three other courses to choose from including, 38, 48 and 63 miles,” he added.

The ride starts at Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground and full support is given to the riders. For more details of how to enter or volunteer visit website macmillanbikeride.co.uk or call 01202 601705 for entry forms.
