A SURVEY of seaside towns in the UK has placed Bournemouth and Poole in 38th and 63rd places respectively.
The Which? Seaside Survey took place in 96 areas around the UK coastline and ranked locations in a number of different categories including hotel rate, beach, seafront, food and drink, attractions, scenery, entertainment, peace and quiet and value for money.
Swanage was in 23rd place with Lyme Regis at 26th, Lymington in 27th place and Weymouth in 58th position.
Nearly 3,000 people were questioned about recent trips to seaside towns, villages and resorts in the UK.
They rated Bamburgh in Northumberland as the best and Wales did well with four seaside towns in the top 20.
East Anglia also fared well with Suffolk and Norfolk securing two places each in the top 20.
At the bottom of the table were Clacton-on-Sea, Bognor Regis, Burnham-on-Sea and Skegness.
