A multi-agency project to decrease the levels of crime and antisocial behaviour in the community has completed over 800 property inspections.

Operation Galaxy, run in partnership with the BCP Council and Dorset Police since 2012 and been in operation since 2015, aims to reduce the levels of anti-social behaviour, criminality, housing disrepair, housing management issues and fire risk in the Bournemouth area.

The agency has recently cleared a site off Holdenhurst Road after a number of reports were made.

Sophie Ricketts, Target Enforcement Manager at BCP Council, said: “We’ve placed a special focus on the Knyverton Gardens area to include a specific site in St Swithuns Road, which has been subject to anti-social behaviour and crime for a number of years. Through pro-active working with the owner, we have been able to clear the land and secure it, to prevent further issues.”

Since the implementation of Target Enforcement, the agency has also served over 150 warnings and notices with a full compliance rate and offered support to over 80 vulnerable people with over 50 referrals to specific support services.
