A KNIFE was seen during a road rage row between a man out walking his dogs and a driver, police have said.

Officers are searching for one of the men involved in the incident, which happened outside the Royal British Legion building in Bath Road, Sturminster Newton on Thursday, May 23.

A man driving a Volkswagen Golf was involved in 'some kind of altercation' with another man who was out walking his dogs at around 8.45pm, officers say. The driver had a knife with him.

Police rushed to the scene but both men had already left. A vehicle was stopped in the town following a search and a 30-year-old Weymouth man was detained.

He was arrested on suspicion of affray and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and has been released under investigation.

PC Ed Messinger, of North Dorset police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries but we have so far been unable to locate the alleged victim of this incident so we can obtain his account.

“I would urge this man or anyone who directly witnessed the incident to please contact police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting 55190078027."
