THE garden at Forest Holme Hospice will again be brightened by beautiful yellow ribbons this June as its popular appeal remembering loved ones who have died returns.

This special annual event takes place during Hospice Awareness Month on Thursday, June 13, from 10am until 4pm and is a time for reflection and thanksgiving.

Each symbolic ribbon is yellow, which is a colour commonly associated with the hospice movement, and will be displayed in the garden throughout the summer and will carry the name of the person honoured and any message of dedication.

For those who are unable to attend but would still like to make a dedication, the staff at the hospice will happily make it in their absence and anyone can make a dedication, irrespective of whether their loved ones attended the hospice.

Paul Tucker, fundraising manager at Forest Holme, said: “Tie A Yellow Ribbon is a very special date in the hospice calendar and is open to absolutely anyone who has lost a loved one and wants to make a dedication and donation in memory of them, whilst also helping future patients and their families.”

Forest Holme Hospice, which is marking its 25th anniversary this year, provides end-of-life care and support to more than 1,000 people each year with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and heart disease to local people across Poole, Wimborne and the Isle of Purbeck.

If you would like to dedicate a ribbon, please visit Forest Holme at 5 Seldown Road, Poole BH15 1TS on Thursday June 13 between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Refreshments and homemade cakes will be available during the day. If you are unable to visit but would like a ribbon, call 01202 670644.
