A JET ski started sinking off Old Harry Rocks at the weekend.
Swanage inshore RNLI lifeboat was called to help around 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
Poole lifeboat was also called.
Before the lifeboats arrived a passing speedboat recovered two people from the water and had started to take the sunken jet ski in tow.
After the Swanage lifeboat arrived a crew member was put aboard the speedboat to ensure both casualties were OK.
"They were OK but getting cold," said an RNLI spokesman. "Poole lifeboat was now approaching the scene so the casualties were transferred across and the lifeboat's tow line connected.
"Poole lifeboat then started to slowly make its way back towards Poole with the ski in tow."
