WITH summer fast approaching, it might be time to start thinking about a seaside getaway.

Most beachgoers bask in their bathing suits, but what about those who feel more comfortable in their birthday suits?

These are some of the top official – and unofficial – nudist beaches in Sussex for those who prefer to let it all hang out.

Please note, pictures may not necessarily be of the nudist beaches.

1) Brighton Kemptown

This shingle beach at the east end of the seafront promenade was officially opened to nudists in 1979.

It is thought to be one of the best known naturist beaches in UK.

2) Fairlight Glen, Hastings

This naturist beach lies about two mile west of Rye.

It was recognised by the council as a nudist beach in 1978.

However, this official status was reclassified by the council in 1999.

Also, the path to the beach has been lost to the sea.

But it is still a popular spot with naturists.

The Argus:

3) Norman’s Bay, Bexhill

It has been an unofficial nudist beach for more than 30 years.

It can be found at the Cooden Beach end of Bexhill and the seaside village of Normans Bay.

But be warned, some nudists have reported that they are sometimes moved along by the beach patrol.

The Argus:

4) Camber Sands, near Rye

Camber sands are between Rye and Lydd.

The further west you go towards Rye, the more likely you are to find suitable spots.

The dunes at the western end are sometimes used by naturists.

Beware that bathing at here can be hazardous.

Also beware of Pontin's holiday camp, which could put you at full view of unsuspecting holidaymakers.

The Argus:

5) Church Norton - near Chichester

It is located six miles south of Chichester in the Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve.

This beach is a large shingle bank.

You may be able to sit on the sand at low tides.

Nudists have reported that there are excellent bird watching opportunities.
