Police were called after a child got lost on Weymouth Beach.
The incident happened yesterday afternoon.
Thankfully the child was found safe after being taken to the lost children hut, which is located between the beach office and the RNLI hut, near to the King's Statue.
Police officers have issued some clear advice following the incident.
A spokesman for Dorset Polcie said: “Take a quick photograph of your child's clothing in case you get separated.
“Talk to your child about what to do if you do become separated. Tell your child to find a police officer, or a uniformed official/member of staff if possible, to ask for their help.
“Agree a meeting place in case you do get separated. Make sure your child understands what to do. Pick a distinctive location such as a statue or fountain which is easy to remember.
“Attach a badge or wristband to you child with your mobile number on it. Then if someone finds your child they can contact you immediately. Do NOT write your child's name on it!”
