JUST one year after it opened its appeal to buy a Mini MRI scanner, Royal Bournemouth Hospital unveiled its latest new equipment.
Unlike the classic MRI scanner, the mini can scan legs and arms and will, says the hospital, lower waiting times and provide more comfortable treatment for radiology patients.
The £300,000 appeal was launched as part of the NHS's 70th birthday celebrations and by January 2019 the target had been reached.
The funds raised included a £100,000 grant from Talbot Village
Trust in addition to many generous donations from people across the community.
Head of Fundraising at Bournemouth Hospital Charity, Debbie Anderson, said: “We launched the Mini MRI Scanner appeal to honour a momentous year for the NHS, and successfully raised £300,000 for the machine, that will benefit elderly patients as well as patients with leg or arm
injuries or joint degeneration. We are indebted to all our donors and the community who have supported this appeal.”
