VISITORS to Purbeck have the chance to see the mysterious nightjar, with a series of events taking place this summer.
RSPB Arne, near Wareham, is hosting evening visits on Thursdays during June and July, from 8pm to 10.30pm.
Ellie Sunderland, the reserve's visitor experience officer, said: “Experience one of our most mysterious birds in a stunning and exclusive part of RSPB Arne not usually open to the public. Folklore has named the nightjar goat sucker, corpse-fowl, and scissor grinder! Come along and learn more about the heathland and why it's a crucial home to the nightjar and other special wildlife.”
The cost is £20 for RSPB members, including a two-course meal at the RSPB Arne Cafe, or £25 for non-members. Visit arnenightjarwalks2019.eventbrite.co.uk to book or rspb.org.uk/arne for more information.
