CHILDREN are being invited to build their own miniature fairy gardens at a half-term activity in the New Forest.

The family craft activity at Furzey Gardens in Minstead welcomes children of all ages looking to create and take home a real, living garden. The mini gardens are perfect for the fairies that live behind the dozens of 'fairy doors' dotted around the gardens.

Children will build their garden by planting small plants and creating a miniature rockery, then painting a ceramic toadstool and butterfly to complete the arrangement.

The activity takes place under cover in the Bug Barn from Tuesday 28 to Friday 31 May, with drop-in sessions each day from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3.30pm (last entry 3pm).

Events organiser at Furzey Gardens, Emma Golby-Kirk, said: "We hope this half term activity will bring out the creative side of our young visitors as they engage with nature in our beautiful gardens. Everybody who visits Furzey will be helping us continue our work to support people with learning disabilities to live more independent and fulfilled lives."

n Places can be booked for £3.50 at www.minsteadtrust.org.uk/fairygardens. Normal garden entrance also applies.
