A TEMPORARY land train service will be running from Hengistbury Head starting from today.

The council has introduced the service to make up for the ongoing suspension of the traditional Noddy Train following an accident seven months ago.

The service, which will use one of the smaller seafront trains, will run from 10am until 5pm daily between the Hengistbury Head main car park and Mudeford Spit, with finishing times extended during busy periods.

“Summer is fast approaching, and due to the ongoing Health and Safety Executive investigation that led to the withdrawal of the traditional Hengistbury land trains, we will be introducing an interim train service using a different style of train,” BCP Council said.

“The operating times will be displayed daily on the notice boards at each end of the route. At busy times tickets may be sold whilst people are waiting for the train to improve turn-around times at each end.

“We are currently planning to operate this service until we know the outcome of the HSE investigation, after which we’ll be in a position to know whether we can reintroduce the traditional trains.”
