Two pensioners are seriously injured - with one fighting for life - following a crash involving a motorbike and a bicycle. 

Police were called to the crash on the A351 between Wareham and Stoborough at around 9.45am today. 

It involved a white KSR Moto motorbike and a bicycle. 

The cyclist, a man aged in his 70s and from Farnborough in Surrey, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. His family has been informed.

The motorcyclist, a local man aged in his 70s, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Poole Hospital for treatment.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

An examination of the scene was also carried out. 

Officers investigating the collision are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Nikki Burt, of the traffic unit, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the collision and has dashcam fitted to check their footage for anything relevant.

“Finally, I would like to thank motorists and anyone affected for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These were necessary to enable to emergency services to deal with the incident and to allow for a full examination of the scene.”
