DORSET County Hospital in Dorchester could win an award for its high levels of efficiency.

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of five trusts to be shortlisted for the CHKS national healthcare efficiency award, part of the annual Top Hospitals awards.

The CHKS Top Hospitals awards celebrate the success of healthcare providers across the UK and are awarded to healthcare organisations for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement.

The healthcare efficiency award recognises organisations that have achieved high standards of operational excellence and outperform their peers on a range of 13 efficiency indicators that support care quality and patient outcomes.

The data comes from the information that is regularly submitted by hospitals to NHS Digital to help track performance.

Tracey Francis, Managing Director, Capita Healthcare Decisions, said: “Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust should feel proud to be shortlisted for this healthcare efficiency award as it highlights the exceptional work and care that it consistently provides.

"We look forward to announcing the overall winner at our awards ceremony in June.”

The awards will be held in London on the June 12 at the Royal College of Physicians and will be hosted by Sue Saville, the medical correspondent for ITV News.
