DANCERS from across the UK descended on Bournemouth to show off their skills on Saturday.
Part of the Surf the Wave project organised by Pavilion Dance South West, the UK Dance Showcase saw dancers gather to exchange ideas and network while also putting on some spectacular displays for residents and holidaymakers alike.
Hundreds of dancers were due to attend, some from international companies.
Performances included the fun and furious T-break by Mickael Marso Riviere in Pier Approach, as pictured above and right, which drew a large crowd of onlookers.
There was also ‘fast-paced male-female duet’ Amaranthine by Company Chameleon in the Square throughout the day, MESH by Vanessa Grasse – a procession starting at Goldsmiths in Old Christchurch Road and finishing in the Square – and the world premiere of Pulse! by Joss Arnot Dance on the terraces of Pavilion Dance South West.
Zannah Doan, chief executive of Pavilion Dance South West, says: "This is a significant moment for the development of dance.
"The UK is a melting pot of dance talent and we need to have the showcasing opportunities for artists to be able to demonstrate the incredible work they have to offer audiences in indoors, outdoors and festival programmes across the UK."
The event was supported by Arts University Bournemouth, the Lighthouse in Poole and Southampton's Mayflower Theatre.
