PLANS to convert a Bournemouth home into a block of 10 two-bedroom flats have been submitted.

Ashdrew Ltd is seeking planning permission to demolish the existing Castlemain Avenue building to make way for the new development.

It said the design of the new block would appear as if it were a “large two-storey” villa although the roof will contain three flats.

The application was submitted to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council on Thursday and will be considered by planning officers in the coming weeks.

It includes provision of 12 parking spaces, most of which will be built behind the building.

“The proposed development will appear as a large two-storey villa with additional habitable accommodation contained within the roof space,” a statement submitted with the application says.

“It will respect the character of the surroundings and the primary change of use of the site to flats will accord with the prevailing pattern of development.”

It adds that the new building would “appear consistent” with other nearby blocks of flats.
